Privacy Policy

WrightScanner

WrightScanner ("the app," "we," "us") is developed by Pathwright Ltd. This page explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and your choices — written to match exactly what the app does today, not a generic template.

The short version

  • Your scanned documents never leave your device. There is no cloud backup or sync, and we have no server that stores or can see your scans.
  • Text recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your device too — nothing about your documents' content is ever sent anywhere.
  • The only thing that touches a server at all is account sign-in (your email address, or your Google account info if you use Google Sign-In), handled by Google's Firebase Authentication.
  • We don't run ads and don't use any analytics or tracking SDKs, as of this policy's effective date. If that changes, this page will be updated first.

Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account or sign in, we collect:

  • The email address and password you sign up with, if you use email/password sign-in. Your password itself is never stored or visible to us — Firebase Authentication handles it directly.
  • Your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account, if you sign in with Google instead.

This is handled by Firebase Authentication, a service operated by Google LLC. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google itself processes this data.

You can use the app without an account for your first 3 saved scans. Beyond that, an account is required to keep saving — a simple usage limit tracked by a small counter stored only on your own device, never on a server.

Your scans and documents

Every document you scan or import, the text our on-device OCR extracts from it, and any filter you apply are stored only in the app's private storage on your own device. We don't upload them, can't see them, and have no way to access them remotely. Deleting a scan in the app, or uninstalling the app, removes it for good — there's no copy anywhere else to also delete.

Device permissions

CAMERA PHOTO LIBRARY (picker only)
  • Camera — used to scan documents, through Google ML Kit's Document Scanner. The scan itself is processed entirely on your device.
  • Photo library access — used only when you choose "From Photos" to import an existing image as a scan page, through Android's built-in Photo Picker, which doesn't give the app broad access to your gallery.

How we use information

Account information is used solely to let you sign in and to enforce the free-scan limit described above, and may be used to support paid features in the future. We never use it for advertising, and we never sell it.

We do not use your scanned content, OCR text, or any document data for any purpose beyond showing it back to you inside the app — we have no access to it to use it for anything else.

Third parties

The only third-party service involved is Google Firebase (Authentication and Google Sign-In), used strictly to run the sign-in feature described above. We don't integrate any advertising network, analytics SDK, or crash-reporting service today. If that changes — for example, if ads are introduced down the line — this policy will be updated first.

Data retention and deletion

  • Your scans: stay on your device until you delete them yourself or uninstall the app. There's no server copy to also remove.
  • Your account: delete it anytime from Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your sign-in record from Firebase; it does not touch any scans already saved on your device. For security, Firebase may ask you to sign out and back in before it allows deleting a long-idle session — if you see that message, that's all it means.

Children's privacy

WrightScanner isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age set by your local law). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at the address below and we'll delete it.

Security

We rely on your device's own operating system to protect data stored locally, and on Firebase Authentication's security practices for account sign-in. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so we can't promise an absolute guarantee — but nothing about how this app works sends your documents anywhere to put them at risk in the first place.

Your choices

  • Most of the app — scanning, cropping, filtering, exporting, and sharing — works without ever creating an account.
  • You can delete any scan at any time from within the app.
  • You can delete your account at any time (see "Data retention and deletion" above).
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example under the GDPR or CCPA — to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. Since the only personal data we hold is your account email (and, optionally, your Google profile info), contacting us below covers all of it.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change what data we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and change the effective date above.
